The single-use lines a site reorders every month: gloves, masks and respirators, protective wear, paper, bin liners and waste bags, cleaning wipes, kitchen consumables and disposable bedding. Supplied to clinics, hospitals, aged care facilities, NDIS providers and commercial sites across Australia, by the box and by the carton.

Disposable gloves: nitrile, latex, vinyl and biodegradable, in examination and industrial grades.
Face masks and respirators: Level 1, 2 and 3 surgical masks plus P2 and N95 respirators.
Protective wear: gowns and aprons, shoe covers, hairnets and caps and safety glasses and goggles.
Cleaning and disinfectant wipes: detergent, hospital grade and instrument grade.
Waste disposal: bin liners plus the regulated clinical, cytotoxic and autoclave streams.
Paper rolls and towels: couch rolls, hand towel and toilet tissue.
Kitchen consumables: food service disposables and packaging.
Bedding and curtains: disposable sheets, underpads and privacy curtains.

Buying consumables well

Count in uses, not units. A box of 200 thin gloves that staff double-glove with is more expensive than a box of 100 they trust. The same applies to paper that tears, bin liners that split and masks that fog glasses and get pulled down. The cheapest carton on the invoice is routinely the most expensive line in the building, and the people who know which is which are the ones using it.

Standardise, then stock depth. Carrying three competing brands of the same glove multiplies holding cost and guarantees the least-liked one goes stale. Pick the line that works, then hold enough of it in the sizes your team actually wears.

Watch expiry on anything sterile. Sterile single-use items carry an expiry date and bulk-buying past your turnover rate converts a discount into written-off stock.

Check what the waste contract allows. Compostable bin liners only help if the site has an organics stream that accepts them, and regulated clinical waste has to go into bags specified for that stream regardless of what is cheaper.
