Blood collection

Vacutainer tubes are colour-coded by additive, and the right tube depends on the test ordered. Check the requirements of the pathology provider you send to before stocking a tube type. Single-use holders reduce the risk of needlestick injury and cross-contamination.

Urine and other specimens

MSU jars are used for mid-stream urine samples. Specimen bags keep the sample and request form separate during transport.
