Smith & Nephew ALGISITE M is a highly absorbent calcium alginate dressing designed to help manage wounds with moderate to heavy levels of exudate. When the dressing comes into contact with wound fluid, its natural high M-type alginate fibres form a soft, moist gel that absorbs excess exudate while conforming closely to the wound bed.
The gel formation helps maintain a moist wound environment to support the natural healing process and may help prevent the wound surface from drying out. ALGISITE M can absorb up to ten times its own weight in fluid, making it suitable for effective exudate management in larger wounds.
Its needle-bonded construction provides good wet strength and helps minimise fibre shedding during use and dressing removal. The soft, conformable sheet can also be cut to fit different wound shapes where clinically appropriate.
