Diagnostic antigen used in Mantoux tuberculin skin testing (TST) as an aid in the diagnosis of tuberculosis. Supplied as a 1 × 1 mL multi-dose vial (clear, colourless solution) for intradermal use only. S4 (Prescription Only Medicine).

Strength & dose: 50 TU/mL; standard Mantoux test dose is 5 TU in 0.1 mL ID (volar forearm). A 1 mL vial provides up to 10 tests.

Indication: Used in skin testing as an aid in TB diagnosis (read 48–72 hours after administration by trained staff).

Route: Intradermal only (Mantoux technique).

Excipients: Phenol (preservative), polysorbate 80, sodium chloride, phosphate buffers, water for injections. Latex-free stopper information per PI.

Store at 2–8 °C. Protect from light. Do not freeze.

Administration notes (for HCPs)

Use a 1 mL tuberculin syringe with 26–27G short needle; inject 0.1 mL ID to raise a 6–10 mm wheal; do not give SC/IM. Interpret by induration at 48–72 h per local guidance.
